<< Reduced Bleeding >>

There are limited data which indicate that bleeding from cut blood vessels is much reduced during sexual arousal. Skin abrasions, accidental cuts and even cuts on the genitalia and on other tumescent parts of the body, and the injuries that may be incurred during sado-masochistic activity, seem to be remarkably free from extensive bleeding. We have records of menstrual flow being slowed up when there is erotic stimulation, although the physical activity in coitus might be expected to induce an increased flow. The records include data on an increase in the flow of blood from wounds after an individual experiences orgasm and returns to a normal physiologic state.
Assertions that the menstrual flow is increased during coitus, are also in: Malchow 1923:136. Van de Velde 1930:292. Stone and Stone 1952:241-242.
